Dr. Tandra R. Chakraborty is Associate Professor and Director of the Biology Graduate Program in the Biology department at Adelphi University. She received her Ph.D. from Calcutta University, Kolkata, India in Biochemistry. She did her postdoctoral fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine on Neuroendocrinology and has taught at Sarah Lawrence College as guest lecturer.
She joined Adelphi University in 2006 as an Assistant Professor. She teaches Anatomy and Physiology (Introductory level), Neurobiology (Senior level) and Endocrinology (Graduate level) at Adelphi. She has been able to implement high impact practices in all of her courses. Her research focuses on neuroendocrinology mainly focusing on the role of estrogen on obesity and related diseases like hypoglycemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver. She has published several articles and has been a guest lecturer in several national and international conferences.
She is proud to say that every student who has worked in her laboratory for more than a semester has published their work in some form.
